No... I didn't feel anything. What do you mean something's moving?
[Because between the noise and his aching head and hurried pace before, he hardly felt the shifting of the ship. It's not like he'll voice it but if he felt a slight tremor under his feet moments ago, he probably thought it was his head. So any control he's keeping is to keep himself from giving into the headaches and sitting down, giving up.
And he won't do that. He has stuff to do, people to find. So right now with whatever John is talking about, he changes from trying to keep his concern on the inside to letting a small fraction of it flash behind his eyes, in the glance down at the ground for a second before returning up to John.
He can only imagine what 'something big and moving around somewhere' could mean. It was about the right time for strange things to happen again, if you discount the headaches and banging noise already, so even if he still feels he should hurry, he agrees they should take their time instead. No use winding up dead.]
Maybe.
[And this time as they pick back up, he paces his stride normally without rush.]
[ John's struggling to explain, his mind slipping away to concentrate on all the sensory input. He thinks he hears something else — something decidedly closer — but the noise doesn't persist, so he tries to refocus on the question. ]
Feels like— like the whole ship's shudderin', that's all. [ That's all. He says it over again in his head and it sounds every bit as ridiculous. Frowning, he spares Carl an apologetic look and tries to soften some of the terseness his voice tends to take on in moments of stress. ]
Down in the shuttle bay, when we move somethin' heavy, the floor— it shakes, y'know? You get used to that feelin'. Get to recognize it.
[He repeats that part if only because the effects of his headache weigh little by little more heavily on his focus as they walk and honestly he's not been down there more than a hand full of times to look out in space to even have been aware something felt like it was moving underneath... If he had known, he probably would have avoided going altogether.
Also to accompany his question is another glance, flashing side ways at John as if to say "are you serious?" Because no, no he does NOT know, but yes it makes him more concerned if that's what he thinks it feels like.]
[ Well, to be fair, John's been feeling particularly paranoid as of late, so he doesn't necessary consider himself an authority of what is and isn't happening. But he's always been good at conjecture and he's fairly attuned to his surroundings where possible.
Sparing Carl a glance, he smiles and shrugs. Maybe he'd be better off not rambling on, but being something of a nervous guy during times of stress, he doesn't appear to be able to help himself without a little extra thought. ]
Yeah, you know where that is? If you have trouble gettin' to Gunnery, you can look for me there.
[ He's always willing to help out, even if Carl appears suspicious of anyone offering as much. ]
